.Straights & Curves

Use them in opposition to each other to create an interesting design and also as support structures.

Weight

Is created through the use of perspective, proportion, volumes, structure, balance, etc, etc.

Torque & Twist

Pose your characters in interesting positions but not too weird. Make sure it’s expressive and has a strong silhouette.

Foreshortening

Use with caution and only when absolutely necessary.

Anchor points

Are a part of construction drawing. Be sure to maintain your anchor points on the character’s face to make them look solid.

Angles & Tilts

Use your perspective rules to maintain the proper look for the rotation of the various parts of the body. Follow the same principles as in Torque & Twist.

Model / Character Design

Maintain the consistency in each of the poses on your model sheets to keep your character “on model”. Design your character with the purpose that they are to serve within the context of the story.
