Torque and twist are the same thing just two different words. It is the act of placing the character into interesting poses as opposed to a flat pose. The use of twist to the character depends on the action the character is doing as well as the character’s emotional attitude.
Don’t go overboard with this stuff, just use it when needed and always fall back on the rule; ‘It doesn’t matter how it gets done, just so long as it looks good.’
