By looking at each individual part of the character’s face while you’re flipping the drawings, you will be able to see if the features are sliding around or the head is getting bigger or smaller. If you see any mistakes, take out your pencil and fix them up now. You may want to tape the bottom of the two drawings down to your desk to secure them in place to avoid repeated re shifting to get it on the proper anchor points.

This little technique will allow you to draw your characters consistently and it’s fun to watch them move too. Don’t let this technique get out of hand though and start thinking of yourself as an animator, cause that’s a whole different realm that we can’t get into right now, so let’s just focus on getting the character drawings done right first, o.k.?
