- This is one sequence within a larger movie. The first scene within a sequence is usually the establishing shot. This shot is usually a long shot showing the overall environment and all the primary characters. In this instance, this would probably be the second time weve seen this location. The first would have been when the Wolf first gets to Grandmas cottage. We wouldnt want to be redundant and show the overview of the cottage again. This is a short film so it wouldnt have been a very long time since that first establishing shot was seen, maybe no more than a minute or so. This shot is a medium shot. From the knees up would be good. The background should be one point and camera set at the characters level. - In this scene weve moved inside the cottage and were looking at the Wolf in the bed. The Wolf is completely covered up and he wiggles around, then pokes his head out from under the covers. This is a slight 3/4 down shot. - We cut back to the door, this time from inside the cottage. The door starts out closed, then opens and Red pokes her head inside. This is a medium long shot to show a bit of the environment. The horizon line is just slightly above the characters head level. Matchcut to the next scene. - We now cut out to a wider view of the doorway from the inside and pan with Red as she skips into the room towards the bed. (Red closes the door behind her.) The pan ends before Red reaches the bed. Matchcut to the next scene. |
