Character Designs

You have been given design sheets for both Mustapha and Cassim. Use these to establish the design style for the other characters. The two characters that you must design are the thieves Hassan and Codad. Design them as opposing body types. If one is fat, design the other as thin. If one is tall, the other is short, etc., etc. Be sure that they work for the action that they will be involved in.

Location Designs

This sequence takes place in the court yard just outside of Ali Baba’s house. The area is about 30’ x 40’ and is surrounded by a wall on 2 sides and the house on the other two. The architecture is Arabian but not extravagant. Ali’s family are middle class not upper class.

The court yard floor is made of large interlocking stone. If you want to make a pattern, go ahead, just don’t make it so intricate that it’s impossible to duplicate. There should be a main entrance gate that leads to the street. The house is two stories tall with a balcony and stairs leading down into the court on one side of the yard and one story tall on the other. The court yard walls are 8’ high: 5’ stucco stone and the top 3’ is lattice.

Within the court yard are trees and bushes, a sitting area, and a stall area for animals. The majority of the court yard is open. A portion is covered by a lattice roof to provide shade during the day. There is an entrance into the house and a couple of ground floor windows.

Draw two opposing views of the location.
