Overlapping Pendulum Class Demo

For this assignment, I decided to follow up with the character I used in the Double Ball Bounce Demo - the bunny rabbit. The practical application of the pendulum swing is in the character's arms as he's skipping along. For this demo, I've broken down all the separate steps that I took to get to the final animation.

Step 1:
After acting out the skip (It's difficult to figure it out just in your head without actually doing it... try it some time) I started by just animating the character's body shape.

This is the initial rough timing that I came up with from the main keys and breakdowns. You can see in the lower left corner, the letters: A, B, C, etc. By animating like this, I don't need to worry about timing my drawings and getting locked into numbers.

Step 2:
After playing with the timing slightly, I then decided on my timing charts and drew in some inbetweens.

(You can see the timing charts flashing on the lower right side, just above the numbers.)

This seemed to be a bit soft on the jump points when the leg hits it's farthest back point. In the first rough test there seemed to be more snap... primarily because there are no inbetweens there, it just pops back. I decided to change the exposure for three of the drawings at that point on either side from twos to ones.

This version gives it the timing similar to the first rough test, which I like better.

Step 3:
I went back and added in the legs and feet.

Step 4:
Next I added in the arms. I did these in the extra time that I had in both classes. I tried different types of actions and timings, to see what I could come up with.
