Thought Process Follow your Basic Work Process Handout for the overall process of doing this assignment. Take the character design and practice drawing the character in the same poses shown on the model sheet until you feel comfortable with the design. Start rotating the character into different positions using the neutral expression on the model sheet. This is another variation of the Sphere Assignment from back in Lesson 2 and 3. Once you feel suitably comfortable with the character at this point begin to add the expression to the poses. Think about the attitude of the head in perspective, should it be tilting up or down, off to one side or the other? Look at yourself in the mirror and see how your face looks with the expressions. Pay particular attention to the anchor points. Once youre finished with the pose, step back and take an objective look at it. Compare it to the model sheet and ask yourself, Does it look like the design? If not, decide what it is thats wrong and make some revisions. If its o.k., move on to the next expression and follow the same steps as above. Try using the flipping technique that I showed you on the video tape to keep the proportions the same and the character on model. Common Errors - Losing the model of the character. - Volume changes. - Not using the anchor points. - Ignoring the principles involved. |
