Staging & Composition

The placement of the character (or characters) within the field and their relationship to the environment that they exist within (the layout) depends on proper staging and composition. Always be sure that the character has enough space to do what they have to do within the scene. Work within the television cutoff area within your field size to be sure that later, when it’s transferred to video, you won’t lose any important business that the character is doing within the scene.

Check to make sure the character appears to be standing on the same perspective plane that the background is on, otherwise they will appear to be floating in mid-air.

Watch out for any tangential growth that might be occurring with any of the background elements.
