Final Model Sheets After having gone through the last lesson you need to begin to give final form to your character design. The process is exactly the same as before. Once youre happy with the new look of your character, you need to either modify your previous poses. This may just mean some minor alterations here and there or it might mean simply using your previous poses as a basic guideline for the pose position of the character. This means that you take the old pose, place it on your light table, put a fresh sheet of paper over top of it and redraw the character to the new design, using the drawing beneath as a guide for the pose alone. If your character has gone through some radical design changes in proportion and volumes, you may just want to have the original designs off to the side for visual reference since the trace off method would be awkward if the arms were twice as long as they originally were, etc. Use your own discretion here. Youll obviously know which method works best for you as youre doing the drawings. After the drawings are cleaned up to your satisfaction, lay them out on a table or the floor and scan over them to see how they look with each other. Pick out the drawing that you think best represents the look of your character. Now compare all your other drawings, one by one to this master design. If you notice any differences, make the appropriate changes now. Next, you can either photocopy or scan the drawings individually and have them reduced to an appropriate size to fit them on your final model sheet paper. Remember that each drawing should stand alone and not overlap with another . Also keep the drawings all proportionately the same size on the model sheet. The individual drawings should be clear and legible, dont put too many drawings on one sheet, (100 is too many and 1 is too few). |
