Construction Drawing

This is the thought process coupled with your actual technique. Some people like to draw rough circles and use cross contour lines to indicate the center lines for the placement of facial features and or the angle the body part is positioned to the viewer, while others prefer to get straight to the rough final drawing (the stage just before final clean up). This requires a very strong drawing ability gained only through years of training and a thorough understanding of the character’s design. Everyone will have their own approach. The general rule of thumb is to draw ‘from the inside out’. Get the basic structure and construction down first then add the details later, it’ll save you a lot of time later.
