This can mean two things. First it can mean that the character is balanced in relation to gravity. By this I mean does the character look like it’s going to fall over? This is a 3 dimensional balance. If you lean over too far without catching yourself, you’ll fall down. Be careful that your character is properly balanced unless it works in conjunction with the drawings before and after to create the proper illusion of movement and weight.
The second meaning applies to the composition of the drawing on the screen. Primarily this deals with the leading space related to the character and the edge of the field, the character and another character in the field or the character and an element/elements of the background.
