Rock & Rule Gag Cartoons

This photo was taken outside the front door of the Lakeshore studio in the winter of 1981. It was something like -20 degrees below zero that day.

Shown here from left to right are Tom Sito, Myself, Brad Goodchild and Bob Ardel.

This cartoon was drawn by Tom while we were at the Queens Quay studio. Tom was blathering on and on about some history thing that happened on that day, (which he did every day of the year) and I blurted out that I was going to shoot him with a "Shnauser" if he didn't shut up. I meant to say "Mauser".

About three minutes later this drifted over our divider and onto my lap. I always wondered where the trigger would be.

When Tom left the studio towards the end of production, he left me with this huge scene of the Beast dying in the "dimensional well". It was an absolute mess of lines and barely intelligible notes about 300 drawings long. (I think he had gotten drunk while animating it on his last day).

He scribbled this note and taped it to the folder.

I've been holding onto this for the past 20 years. Now that he's really gotten big in animation down in L.A., I may just cash this little ticket in!
