Droopy Comics | |||||||
I sort of lucked into the Droopy Comics job for Darkhorse Comics. I met the future editor of the comic at a comics distribution convention down in New Jersey. I was working on the Lethargic Comics books with some former students of mine, when we met and struck up a friendship. About a year later I got a call from him asking if I wanted to do some writing for the series. I said sure then offered to also do some pencilling and inking too.
It ended up lasting 9 issues and was fun to do. Below is the first page of the script for the 'Pirates Ho' story that I wrote and eventually went on to ink. The final page is also shown here. You'll notice at the bottom of the script page I drew a small thumbnail sketch of the page layout as I had envisioned it.. The penciller took my sketches as is and drew the pages exactly as I had laid them out. I actually ended up repencilling all the pages to this and another story because the original pages were so far off model. (I didn't get paid extra for the repencilling job though.) |
