This is as far as I got in Class 1. The total amount of time elapsed to this point was 3 hours.

I took the sculpture home that night and spent about 3 hours getting the entire sculpture smoothed out and to the proper volumes and proportions. I then bulked up Mustapha's head including the nose and eyebrows.
You'll notice that Cassim's head and arms are missing. I'll leave those for later after Mustapha's head is done. I don't want Cassim's head getting in the way. |

Class #2 | |||||||||
For this class, I'm going to focus on Mustapha's head and face.
I found myself jumping all over the place, tweaking things here and there, slowly getting it into shape. It seems that the sculpture never looks good until you put the finishing touches on it, so bear with the fact that it's going to take a while to get it done. I started with the nose trimming a bit off with a tooth pick. I found the tooth pick to be the best tool to work with for the fine details and suprisingly handy during the final smoothing process. |

Most of the movements were very tiny pushes with my fingers, just lightly moving the Sculpy around. It's funny, when I'm doing the sculpting, I'm thinking primarily about what I want it to look like and just making minute changes. It seems like the character just sort of appears as I go along.
