I really liked this sculpture. I did it as a Christmas present for my niece, Tenley way back when she was just a little girl.
Same procedure as for the moose: foam carved core, then covered in biege fur. The pattern was airbrushed on using a Letrajet. You can't see the mane from this angle but it was made out of the brush hairs of a car window scraper. A little while after I had made this one I came upon a book called "The Secret Art of Dr. Seuss". It showed some sculptures that he had done using unique animal antlers and primarily plaster of paris to create his style of creatures. I noticed how close my giraffe was in style to some of his work. |
