Walk Cycle #8 | ||||||||
This walk cycle is a parody of the old 1930's cartoons where the characters would have a jaunty double bounce to their walk. I watched a lot of older cartoons and mashed together the different design styles to get this character called Mortimer Mouse. (I figured, if Disney didn't want to use the name, I would.)
The overall motion is straight up and down with no overlapping action between the head and the body (as in the Double Ball Bounce example). I animated this action first, just the two balls and then I added in the legs and finally the arms. It was a pretty tricky piece to do, harder than I thought it would be. I kept screwing up the leg positions and had to correct them a few times before I got it right. This was the whole reason for doing this type of walk, because it was a challenge. |
