Pinto Colvig
------------------------------------------------------------------------
1892-10/3/67.
The original longtime voice of Walt Disney's Goofy, that beloved dog,Colvig was replaced a number of times when he went to Florida to work for Max Fleischer (1883-1972) on a number of latterday projects (before Paramount, their longiime distributor going back to their New York days, opened in-house [as Famous,pre-Harvey] a few years (1942) before WB and Columbia had opened their respective in-house animation departments, and five years after MGM with theirs),following a stint as a cuircus clown.
A comic writer,he did the silly Goofy voice, for Disney then opther studios.
It's been (esp.in ANIMATO magazine, available at Tower records and at Hollywood newstands and possibly others) speculated as to who did what Goofy imiatation,so popular was this.
Here are some examples.
1. Mel Blanc in Bob Clampett's "Jeepers Creepers"(Warner Bros.,1939)
2.Possibly Danny Webb ,Stu Buchanan,George Johnson or Bob Jackman in Jack Kinney's "Goofy and Wilbur" (Walt Disney,1939)
3.Quite possibly Kent Rogers or Dick Nelson in Chuck Jones's "Conrad, the Sailor'(Warner Bros.1942)
Unconfirmed for the following
1.Hugh Harman's "Bats in the Belfry"(MGM,1941)
or some others.
After 1942 he returned to Disney and continued doing Goofy and others thru 1967.
