Gronk Thinks He's Some Big Shot Artist

Dutchman, Pieter van Mussenenbroek, demonstrated that a revolving disk like Kircher's, but painted with sequential images, could produce an illusion of movement. He later used multiple lanterns, synchronised slide changes and extra long slides which were slowly passed before the projection light to present elaborate illusions, such as a storm at sea. These were the first European animated entertainments.
